Why Is Lindsay Clancy in a State Hospital?
Clancy suffered severe injuries after jumping from a second-storey window on the night her children died. The injuries left her paralysed, and she now uses a wheelchair.

Has Lindsay Clancy’s Trial Started?

The defence argues that she suffered from postpartum psychosis, was taking numerous psychiatric medications and could not properly understand or control her actions. Her lawyers are expected to rely heavily on medical experts and treatment records.
Prosecutors reject that explanation. They argue that Clancy understood what she was doing and deliberately created an opportunity to be alone with the children. They are expected to point to her actions before and after the deaths as evidence of planning and awareness.
The jury must evaluate these competing positions. Experiencing mental illness does not automatically satisfy the legal test for being found not criminally responsible.
Has She Already Been Sentenced?
No. Lindsay Clancy has not been sentenced because the trial is still underway and no verdict has been returned.
